Not worth the money. Poor performance.

This did not hold ice for nearly as long as advertised. Followed directions to a tee. Cooled the cooler off for a day first, with one pound of ice cubes. Chilled everything I put into it for two days before filling. Made 1LB blocks of ice and filled the bottom and sides with 7 blocks. Filled with beverages, and topped off with ice cubes until there was no space left in cooler. All ice was “dry”, not wet. Left under my camper with a moving blanket over it for 36 hrs without opening, and came back to most of the ice cubes melted, and the blocks of ice about half melted. Literally the water bottles had melted into the blocks making concaves. The air temperature was about 90ºF with 100% humidity, but these are supposed to hold ice in the worst of Texas heat. I had to go home and I came back with a small igloo cooler(not chilled first though) set up the same with block ice, cubes, and chilled water bottles, and didn’t even cover it, just kept it out of the sun, and the ice lasted just as long. Both about 2 1/2 days to reach the same amount if ice melt. Definitely all hype, and not worth the money. The more I research Yeti, the less I like the company. I will be trying other rotomolded coolers to see how they compare.

Ice for days I think NOT save your money folks!

Way overpriced and does not hold ice any longer than a regular igloo cooler.
Very disappointed I bought two Yeti’s coolers and they don’t hold ice for days like everyone says they do.
I tested mine many times very disappointed.
Built well and very heavy Yes, other that save your money folks.
24 lbs of ice melted in less than 28 hrs in a controlled climate garage see pic attached. Opened the cooler a total,of 3 times water is cool but ice is GONE!
Going to see if I can send them back!

Heavy as hell, but super efficient. Keeps ice 3x longer than every other “normal” cooler. It makes for a great bench to sit on, or it can double as a step up into a higher vehicle.

This better be the last cooler I ever buy, because I can’t afford another one. Haha

This is so expensive for a ice chest, however last Aug we put dry ice on the bottom and filled with bags of ice, our ice lasted 7 days in Lake Powell in mid Aug. Drinks, milk, cheese, yogurt, etc. were all kept fresh and Ice cold… It really is worth the money.

    Don’t waste your money!

TOO heavy to lift, especially after you get your drinks stuffed in there. Didn’t keep ice any better than the big cheap Coleman I have. Wish I would’ve kept the box so I could send it back. I cannot afford to just throw away $350.00! So po’ed!

Imperfections doesn’t sit even on floor

Received my Yeti 65, there are slight scratches on the lid and many on the bottom (as if it’s not brand new). Also it does not sit even on my floor (anywhere, it’s not the floor) I can tell one of the rubber non slip feet is in on a slight angle. Have to return it doesn’t meet my standards. Frustrating.

Yeti coolers are worth it because they have great ice retention, a high build quality, are almost indestructible and they are THE premium cooler brand to own. However, they may not be worth it as there are other cheaper options out there as well as other brands that have higher performance.

Here’s what I found. The Tundra 65 is crazy durable. YETI boasts that the cooler is certified bear resistant—a claim that I wouldn’t question after inspecting its construction. It offers a storage area capable of holding 39 cans of beer and the ice necessary to keep it cool (or 57.6 liters of storage space).

Ice Retention In a Yeti Cooler: By Size

Tundra Haul 55.2 Quart 10 Days
Tundra 75 74.8 Quart 10-12 Days
Tundra 105 87.2 Quart 10-14 Days

Pelican Elite Coolers

Of all the YETI alternative coolers on the market today, most people would probably agree that the Pelican Elite line is one of the closest. This Pelican cooler strives to be a higher-quality product than YETI, which, admittedly, doesn’t always lend itself to a lower price.

Truthfully, the number one reason Yeti costs so much is that it is branded to be an expensive luxury item. This company’s idea is to make their product cool, appealing, high quality, and premium. They wanted to create all of these things so that people would have no problem with paying very high prices for the coolers.

Yeti coolers are so popular because they were the first to make a really high-quality cooler. They had amazing marketing and distribution that allowed them to grow quickly and they focused on brand marketing, not just the “features” of their product.
